Rabbit anti-human proprotein convertase 2 (PCSK2) antibody recognizes the peptidase enzyme designated proprotein convertase 2, also known as PC2, NEC2, and neuroendocrine convertase 2.

Target Information

The subtilisin-like prohormone convertase (PC) family comprises cellular enzymes that cleave most prohormones and neuropeptide precursors. They also process various cellular, viral, and bacterial proteins transported via the constitutive secretory pathway.
PC family members share structural similarities, including:

• A heterogeneous ~10 kDa amino-terminal proregion
• A highly conserved ~55 kDa subtilisin-like catalytic domain
• A heterogeneous carboxyl-terminal domain

These enzymes become catalytically active following proregion cleavage within the appropriate cellular compartment.
Immunolocalization studies show that PC1 is found in the perinuclear region and trans-Golgi network, while PC2 is located in the trans-Golgi network and diffusely distributed in the peripheral cytoplasm.
