Target Information
SPACA3 (Sperm Acrosome Associated 3), also known as sperm lysozyme-like protein 1, lysozyme-like protein 3, or cancer/testis antigen 54 (CT54), is a 215 amino acid protein involved in sperm-egg plasma membrane fusion and adhesion during fertilization.
It is identified as a novel cancer/testis antigen in hematologic malignancies and can elicit B-cell immune responses, making it a potential target for immunotherapy.
SPACA3 belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 22 family and is expressed in testis, placenta, and epididymis.
Two alternatively spliced isoforms exist: isoform 1 (single-pass type II membrane protein) and isoform 2 (secreted protein).
The processed form shows no detectable bacteriolytic activity in vitro.
