Target Information
BCL-XL is a member of the BCL-2 protein family that regulates apoptosis through interactions at the outer mitochondrial membrane. It influences mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species production, and cytochrome C release. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms — the longer isoform acts as an apoptotic inhibitor, while the shorter form acts as an apoptotic activator.
