PBK (TOPK) is a serine/threonine kinase related to dual specific mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPKK). It is up-regulated in various hematological malignancies, participates in lymphoid cell activation, and supports testicular function (spermatogenesis). Mitotic phosphorylation is required for its catalytic activity, suggesting a role in spermatogenesis and lymphoid cell activation.
