Target Information
The CDH17 gene belongs to the cadherin superfamily, which encodes calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. The encoded protein is cadherin-like, featuring an extracellular region with seven cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacking the conserved cytoplasmic domain. It is primarily expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, functioning as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs. CDH17 may also contribute to the morphological organization of the liver and intestine. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
