Target Information

CDH17 gene belongs to the cadherin superfamily, which encodes calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. The encoded protein is cadherin-like, containing seven cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacking the conserved cytoplasmic domain. It is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, functioning as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs. It may also play a role in the morphological organization of the liver and intestine. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
