HSP 70은 열 스트레스에 반응하여 강하게 발현되며, HSP 70과 HSC 70은 세포질, 핵, 소포체 및 미토콘드리아 단백질 수송과 접힘 과정에 관여합니다.
GRP 78은 소포체에 존재하여 분비 단백질의 접힘과 이동을 담당하며, GRP 75는 미토콘드리아 매트릭스에 존재하여 핵 및 미토콘드리아 유래 폴리펩타이드의 접힘을 돕습니다.
이들 HSP 70 패밀리 단백질은 ATP 가수분해를 통해 작용하는 모터 단백질로 알려져 있습니다.
