Target Information

Insulin-like growth factor-II messenger RNA (mRNA)-binding protein-3 (IMP-3), also known as K homology domain-containing protein overexpressed in cancer (KOC) and L523S, belongs to the IGF-II mRNA-binding protein family. It is expressed during embryogenesis and in certain malignancies. IMP-3 is found in malignant melanoma but not in benign nevi, even with dysplastic features. It is more highly expressed in melanomas than in Spitz nevi and in metastatic melanomas compared to thin melanomas. IMP-3 may be involved in melanoma progression and regulation of tumor behavior.
