Target Information
Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein (65–67 kDa) comprising about half of the total blood serum protein.
Human Serum Albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human plasma, with a serum half-life of ~20 days.
It functions mainly as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and helps stabilize extracellular fluid volume.
Albumin binds water, Ca²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs, and plays a key role in maintaining colloidal osmotic pressure of blood.
