Target Information

The E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase NEDD4 is a ubiquitin-like (Ubl) conjugation pathway protein containing one HECT (E6AP-type E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase) domain and four WW domains.
It participates in the degradation pathway of VEGFR-2/KDFR independently of ubiquitin-ligase activity and acts as a potential proto-oncogene that negatively regulates PTEN via ubiquitination.
NEDD4 is also implicated in viral budding and regulation of epithelial Na⁺ channels, contributing to arterial hypertension.
The protein localizes to the sarcolemmal region of muscle fibers, and its increased expression is associated with muscle unloading and denervation, leading to decreased Notch1 expression.
