Product Specific Information

The eBioC1.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD244 (2B4, p38), a 38 kDa protein expressed on NK cells, CD8+ T cells, γδ T cells, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils.
Binding of CD244 to its ligand CD48 enhances NK cell activation and IFN-γ secretion. C1.7 binding induces tyrosine phosphorylation and recruitment of SAP (SLAM-associated protein).
Mutations in SAP (as seen in X-linked lymphoproliferative disorder) prevent its binding to phosphorylated CD244.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use at 5 µL (0.5 µg)/test (100 µL final volume).

Target Information

CD244 (2B4, SLAMF4) is a receptor expressed on NK cells and some T cells, mediating non-MHC restricted killing.
Interaction with SLAMF2 modulates cytolytic activity and activates both SLAMF4- and SLAMF2-expressing cells.
Reduced SLAMF4 expression is observed in systemic lupus erythematosus, suggesting a role in autoimmune pathology.
Diseases associated with CD244 dysfunction include rheumatoid arthritis and lymphoproliferative syndrome.
Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms of CD244.
