Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.

This reagent was purified from pooled rabbit sera immunized with Human Transferrin, conjugated to horseradish peroxidase (HRP), and purified by affinity chromatography followed by exhaustive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Rabbit Serum, purified Human Transferrin, and Human Serum.
Target Information
Transferrins (Tf) are approximately 80 kDa blood plasma glycoproteins synthesized by the liver. They bind two Fe(3+) ions along with an anion, typically bicarbonate, and are responsible for iron transport from absorption and degradation sites to storage and utilization sites.
Transferrin is the primary blood iron transport protein; about one-third of total transferrin normally contains bound iron.
Measurement of transferrin levels indicates iron-carrying capacity and abnormalities such as anemia, iron overload, or haemochromatosis. Serum transferrin may also play a role in stimulating cell proliferation.
