Target Information
The LHX5 gene encodes a protein belonging to a large family characterized by the LIM domain, a cysteine-rich zinc-binding domain. This protein may act as a transcriptional regulator involved in forebrain differentiation and development. In mice, LHX5 is essential for regulating precursor cell proliferation and neuronal differentiation and migration during hippocampal development, and is associated with learning and motor functions in adults.
