Target Information
F-Box and WD Repeat Domain Containing 7 (FBXW7) is a member of the F-box protein family characterized by a ~40 amino acid F-box motif. These proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex involved in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
FBXW7 belongs to the Fbws class, containing WD-40 domains and seven tandem WD40 repeats. It binds directly to cyclin E and likely mediates its ubiquitin-dependent degradation.
Mutations in FBXW7 have been found in ovarian and breast cancer cell lines, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist for this gene.
