WD-repeats are motifs found in a variety of proteins characterized by a conserved core of 40–60 amino acids forming a propeller structure. Proteins containing WD-repeats participate in diverse cellular functions including chromatin assembly, cell cycle control, signal transduction, RNA processing, apoptosis, and vesicular trafficking.
WDR68 (DCAF7), also known as HAN11 or WDR68, is a 342 amino acid protein belonging to the WD repeat DCAF7 family containing 4 WD repeats. It localizes to the cytoplasm and nucleus, is involved in protein modification and ubiquitination pathways, and interacts with Dyrk1A, Dyrk1B, and Dia1. WDR68 plays roles in craniofacial and skin development.
