Target Information
STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that plays a critical role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways, leading to the induction of type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β) and establishing an antiviral state. STING may also function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and is involved in apoptotic signaling via association with MHC class II. It facilitates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, mediating death signaling through the ERK pathway. STING is generally localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and outer mitochondrial membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across tissues.
