Product Specific Information
A 1:100 dilution of MA5-45745 was sufficient for detection of GABA-A R, Alpha5 in 20 µg of mouse brain lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 55 kDa. Does not cross-react with GABA A Receptor Alpha2 or other GABA-A Receptors based on KO validation data.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S415-24.
Target Information
GABRA5 is a component of the GABA-A receptor complex, a ligand-gated chloride channel mediating inhibitory neurotransmission in the mammalian brain. Chloride conductance can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the receptor. At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified, and transcript variants utilizing three different alternative non-coding first exons have been described.
