This antibody recognizes a different epitope on the CD8 beta chain compared to clone PPT22.
Target Information
The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor, CD8 recognizes antigens presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional CD8 coreceptor can be either a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (one alpha and one beta chain). Both chains share significant homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants producing distinct membrane-associated or secreted isoforms. A pseudogene located on chromosome 2 has also been identified.
