Target Information
LDL related proteins, LRP5 and LRP6, are members of the LDL receptor superfamily, which are involved in the canonical Wnt signaling pathway.
Mammalian LRP6 binds to Wnt1 and enhances Wnt-induced developmental processes in Xenopus embryos.
Mice lacking LRP6 exhibit developmental defects similar to those caused by deficiencies in various Wnt proteins.
Recent studies show that Wnt proteins induce the binding of LRP5 to Axin, leading to Axin degradation and beta-catenin stabilization.
