Target Information
Granzyme B is a member of the granzyme serine protease family, located in the granules of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells. It is also known as CGL1 (cathepsin G-like-1) and CTLA-1 (cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated serine esterase 1). Granzyme B plays a crucial role in inducing apoptosis in target cells through the activation of caspase-3 and the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway via Bid protein cleavage. Granzymes are neutral serine proteases stored in specialized lytic granules of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and natural killer (NK) cells. Several granzymes (A–G) have been identified in mice, while fewer have been cloned in humans.
