Target Information
EFHD1 (also known as Swiprosin-2 or SWS2) is an EF-hand and coiled-coil-containing adaptor protein identified in a neuronal cell line study. Its mRNA is widely expressed, with undetectable levels in embryonic brain stages but increasing expression postnatally into adulthood. In situ hybridization shows expression in neurons but not in white matter of cerebellum and cerebrum. EFHD1 is also highly expressed in testes, ovary, and kidney collecting ducts, suggesting roles in gametogenesis and water reabsorption in non-neuronal cells.
