Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the Golgi-localized, gamma adaptin ear-containing, ARF-binding (GGA) family.
These coat proteins regulate trafficking between the trans-Golgi network and lysosome.
They possess an amino-terminal VHS domain for mannose 6-phosphate receptor sorting and a carboxy-terminal region homologous to the ear domain of gamma-adaptins.
GGA2 may play a significant role in cargo molecule regulation and clathrin-coated vesicle assembly.
