Target Information

GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소입니다.
이 효소는 37 kDa의 동일한 소단위체 4개로 구성된 사량체 형태로 존재하며, NADPH 존재하에 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate로 가역적으로 환원시킵니다.

GAPDH는 해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제, DNA 수선, 핵 내 RNA 수출, 막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
또한 세포사멸(apoptosis) 및 노화 관련 신경퇴행성 질환의 유전자 발현 조절에도 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.

GAPDH는 amyloid precursor protein 및 huntingtin 단백질과 결합하며, 이는 각각 알츠하이머병과 헌팅턴병의 발병과 관련이 있습니다.
또한 actin 및 tubulin과의 상호작용도 보고되어 있습니다.
대부분의 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되므로, Western blot에서 단백질 로딩 컨트롤로 널리 사용됩니다.
