This UP-R1 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD158f (KIR2DL5), an inhibitory receptor belonging to the KIR (Killer cell Ig-like receptors) family. It binds subsets of HLA alleles and is mainly expressed on a subset of NK cells, with minimal expression in some T lymphocytes. Expression is highly polymorphic and absent in many donors.
The UP-R1 antibody has been shown to inhibit NK cytotoxicity.

- Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells
- Recommended Usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume)

Target Information
KIR2DL5A and KIR2DL5B are killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors expressed by NK cells and some T cells. These genes are located on chromosome 19q13.4 within the leukocyte receptor complex (LRC) and display high polymorphism.
KIR proteins are categorized by:
- Number of extracellular Ig domains (2D or 3D)
- Cytoplasmic domain length (L or S)
KIR proteins with long cytoplasmic domains transmit inhibitory signals via ITIM motifs, while those with short domains associate with TYRO protein tyrosine kinase binding protein to transmit activating signals.
They play a critical role in immune regulation, particularly in preventing NK-mediated lysis of HLA-C–expressing cells.
