Product Specific Information

Description:
The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFN gamma). Human IFN gamma is a 17 kDa cytokine produced by activated T and NK cells with antiviral and antiparasitic functions. It acts synergistically with cytokines such as TNF alpha to inhibit proliferation of normal and transformed cells and exerts immunomodulatory effects on multiple cell types expressing IFN gamma receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its biological activity.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in intracellular staining for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by intracellular flow cytometric analysis of activated human cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

Interferon gamma (IFN-γ, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. IFN-γ exhibits antiviral and antiproliferative activity, induces MHC class I and II expression, and activates macrophages.
Human IFN-γ shows high species specificity and does not cross-react with mouse IFN-γ.
Its biological function involves the JAK-STAT signaling pathway upon receptor binding.
Mutations in the IFN-γ gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
