Product Specific Information

Description:
The XMG1.2 antibody reacts with mouse interferon (IFN) gamma, a 20 kDa cytokine produced by activated T, B, and NK cells with antiviral and antiparasitic functions. It is a neutralizing antibody that modulates immune responses by inhibiting cell proliferation in synergy with TNF alpha. Glycosylation does not affect IFN gamma activity.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested for intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon):
A macrophage activation factor produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens, mitogens, and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. IFN gamma exhibits species-specific activity; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse. Functions include antiviral and antiproliferative effects, MHC induction, macrophage activation, and enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B cells.

Activation occurs via IFN gamma receptor I and II, triggering the JAK-STAT pathway. Expression is upregulated by IL-2, FGF basic, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN. Gene mutations are associated with aplastic anemia.
