Target Information

Sarcomere assembly is regulated by the muscle protein titin, a giant elastic protein with kinase activity that spans half the sarcomere length. Titin acts as a scaffold for myofibrils and muscle-related proteins.
MYOZ1 encodes a protein found in striated and cardiac muscle that binds to titin Z1–Z2 domains and serves as a substrate for titin kinase. These interactions are critical for sarcomere assembly.
Mutations in MYOZ1 are associated with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2G.
