Target Information
PRKG2 (PKG2, cGKII) exhibits many cellular functions and has cAMP- and cGMP-dependent protein kinase activity.
cGKII plays a key role in diverse physiological pathways, including intestinal secretion of water and electrolytes induced by E. coli toxin STa and intestinal peptide guanylin.
It may act as a molecular switch coupling cessation of proliferation and initiation of hypertrophic chondrocyte differentiation through attenuation of SOX9 function.
