Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs), which are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA. These proteins regulate alternative splicing, polyadenylation, and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport.
While all hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP F contains three quasi-RRM domains binding guanosine-rich RNA sequences and is closely related to hnRPH. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encode the same protein.
