Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanin family). These cell-surface proteins are characterized by four hydrophobic domains and mediate signal transduction events involved in cell development, activation, growth, and motility. The encoded protein is a cell surface glycoprotein that complexes with integrins and other tetraspanin family proteins, potentially playing a role in T-cell–B-cell interactions. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
