Target Information

Sarcolemmal membrane associated protein (SLMAP) is a tail-anchored membrane protein involved in docking and membrane fusion through protein-protein interactions. Deregulation of SLMAP expression is implicated in type 2 diabetes and hyperglycemia. SLMAPs are cardiac membrane components and act as regulators of cardiac function. Multiple isoforms exist (35, 45, 63, and 83–91 kDa) due to alternative splicing. The 35-kDa isoform is mainly expressed in cardiac and slow-twitch skeletal muscle, while the 83–91 kDa isoform is ubiquitous.
