1 µg/mL of PA5-77797 was sufficient for detection of gamma-ENaC in 20 µg of rat kidney tissue lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-rabbit IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 83 kDa.
Target Information
Epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) are amiloride-sensitive members of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (Deg/ENaC) superfamily of ion channels. These channels share structural similarity with two short intracellular termini, two membrane-spanning segments, and a large extracellular loop containing a conserved cysteine-rich region.
There are three homologous isoforms of ENaC (alpha, beta, and gamma). ENaC in the kidney, lung, and colon plays a key role in trans-epithelial sodium and fluid balance. It also mediates aldosterone-dependent sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron, contributing to blood pressure regulation.
Mutations in ENaC subunits are associated with diseases such as:
- Gain-of-function (β or γ-ENaC): Liddle’s syndrome (severe arterial hypertension)
- Loss-of-function (α or β-ENaC): Pseudohypoaldosteronism type 1 (PHA-1)
