F-Box and WD Repeat Domain Containing 7 (FBXW7)는 약 40개의 아미노산으로 구성된 F-box 모티프를 특징으로 하는 F-box 단백질 패밀리의 구성원입니다. F-box 단백질은 SKP1-cullin-F-box(SCF) 복합체의 하위 단위로 작용하며, 인산화 의존적인 유비퀴틴화 과정에 관여합니다.
FBXW7은 WD-40 도메인을 포함하는 Fbws 클래스에 속하며, F-box 외에도 7개의 연속된 WD40 반복 서열을 포함합니다. 이 단백질은 cyclin E에 직접 결합하여 유비퀴틴 매개 분해를 유도하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 난소암 및 유방암 세포주에서 발견되어, 암 발생 과정에서의 잠재적 역할이 제시되었습니다. FBXW7 유전자는 다양한 이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체를 가집니다.
