Target Information
TCP-1 theta is the theta subunit of the CCT (chaperonin containing TCP1 complex), a molecular chaperone abundant in the eukaryotic cytosol. It assists in protein folding upon ATP hydrolysis and may play a role in the assembly of the BBsome complex involved in ciliogenesis. Additionally, TCP-1 theta participates in the folding of actin and tubulin. The intact CCT complex comprises eight polypeptides arranged in a double ring structure and is essential for folding the VHL tumor suppressor protein.
