Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Ubiquitin is a highly conserved protein involved in targeting cellular proteins for degradation by the 26S proteasome. It is synthesized as a precursor consisting of either polyubiquitin chains or a single ubiquitin fused to an unrelated protein.
This gene encodes a fusion protein with ubiquitin at the N-terminus and ribosomal protein S27a at the C-terminus. Upon expression, the protein is processed to generate free ubiquitin monomer and ribosomal protein S27a, a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit.
Ribosomal protein S27a contains C4-type zinc finger domains and is located in the cytoplasm. Pseudogenes derived from this gene are present in the genome. Other similar fusion proteins include ribosomal protein L40 (with ubiquitin) and ribosomal protein S30 (with ubiquitin-like protein fubi). Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same proteins have been identified.
