Target Information
Chromosome 8 encodes approximately 800 genes across nearly 146 million bases. Translocations involving chromosome 8 and amplifications of the c-Myc gene are observed in certain leukemias and lymphomas and are typically associated with poor prognosis. Chromosome 8 has also been linked to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and various syndromes such as Warkany syndrome 2 (trisomy 8), Werner syndrome, Pfeiffer syndrome, congenital hypothyroidism, and Waardenburg syndrome.
