Product Specific Information
PA1-644 detects kinesin 5C from human samples.
This antibody is specific for kinesin 5C and does not detect other kinesin isotypes.
No cross-reactivity is observed using bovine or mouse samples.
- Successfully used in Western blot procedures.
- Detects an ~110 kDa protein representing kinesin 5C from human retinal extract.
- An unidentified band is also detected at ~100 kDa.
- Immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 938–957 from human kinesin 5C.
- Peptide (Cat. # PEP-199) available for neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
Kinesins are a superfamily of microtubule-associated motor proteins involved in various cellular processes including organelle transport and cell division.
They have a conserved motor domain (~350 amino acids) responsible for microtubule binding and ATP hydrolysis.
Kinesin 5 family members (A, B, C) share structural and functional similarities.
Kinesin 5A and 5C are neuronal, while Kinesin 5B is ubiquitously expressed.
