Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD25 (Interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain), a 55 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on activated B and T lymphocytes, activated monocytes/macrophages, and on CD4⁺ T lymphocytes (T regulatory cells). It is not expressed on resting B and T lymphocytes.
Target Information
CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain, IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. The IL2 receptor is a heterotrimeric complex composed of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG subunits.
- Homodimeric IL2RA chains form low-affinity receptors.
- Homodimeric IL2RB chains form medium-affinity receptors.
- The high-affinity receptor consists of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG.
IL2 is mainly produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth and differentiation factor, as well as a regulator of cell death. It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and suppresses granulocyte-macrophage colony formation. Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
