MAP3K9 (MLK1)는 MAP kinase 경로에서 작용하는 serine/threonine protein kinase입니다. 환경 변화에 의해 유도되는 세포 반응의 신호 전달에서 중요한 역할을 하며, 활성화되면 MKK/JNK 신호 전달 경로의 상위 활성자로 작용합니다. MAP2K4/MKK4 및 MAP2K7/MKK7을 인산화하여 JNK를 활성화시키며, 이는 JUN 및 GATA4 전사인자를 통해 스트레스 반응을 조절합니다. 또한 미토콘드리아 사멸 경로에 관여하여 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하고 세포자멸(apoptosis)을 유발합니다.
