cAMP는 다양한 세포 기능에서 중요한 신호 전달 분자로, cAMP 의존성 단백질 키나아제(AMPK)를 활성화하여 여러 표적 단백질의 인산화를 매개합니다. AMPK의 비활성 홀로효소는 두 개의 조절 서브유닛과 두 개의 촉매 서브유닛으로 구성된 테트라머 형태이며, cAMP 결합 시 조절 서브유닛과 촉매 서브유닛으로 분리됩니다. 인간에서는 네 가지 조절 서브유닛과 세 가지 촉매 서브유닛이 확인되었으며, PRKACB는 Ser/Thr 단백질 키나아제 계열에 속하는 AMPK의 촉매 서브유닛입니다.
