Target Information

DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp, are putative RNA helicases involved in multiple RNA-related processes such as translation initiation, splicing, and ribosome assembly.
The DDX4 gene encodes a DEAD box protein homologous to VASA proteins in Drosophila and other species, specifically expressed in germ cell lineages of both sexes and essential for germ cell development.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
