Target Information
Complex II of the respiratory chain is involved in the oxidation of succinate and electron transfer from FADH to CoQ. It consists of four nuclear-encoded subunits located in the mitochondrial inner membrane. The iron-sulfur subunit contains three cysteine-rich clusters forming the enzyme’s iron-sulfur centers. Mutations in this gene are associated with paragangliomas and pheochromocytoma, linking mitochondrial dysfunction to tumorigenesis.
