Antibody detects endogenous levels of total CAPN7.

Target Information

Calpain proteinases are papain-like neutral proteases activated by calcium. Calpains 1 and 2 consist of a large active subunit and a small non-proteolytic enhancer subunit (calpain-4). Other calpains (5–15) generally do not require a small subunit.
Calpain-7 contains a domain-N instead of the typical EF-hand calcium-binding domain, suggesting uncertain calcium regulation. Instead of the EF-hand domain-IV, it possesses a sequence resembling domain-III with unknown function. Calpain-7 is widely distributed and found in most analyzed tissues.
