Background
Relaxin 3 (RLN3) is a member of the relaxin family of insulin-like hormones, predominantly expressed in the brain. It plays a role in physiological processes such as stress response, memory, and appetite regulation. The encoded protein is a precursor that undergoes proteolytic processing to form a heterodimeric mature protein composed of A and B chains linked by disulfide bonds. Alternative splicing generates multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
