Background
This gene encodes a member of the SNF2/RAD54 helicase family and is a major component of the nucleosome remodeling and deacetylase (NuRD) complex, playing a key role in epigenetic transcriptional repression. Antibodies against this protein are found in patients with dermatomyositis. Somatic mutations in this gene are linked to serous endometrial tumors. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. (RefSeq, Jul 2014)
