Nucleus, nucleus (PML body), cytoplasm, membrane, cell membrane, cytoskeleton (microtubule organizing center, centrosome, spindle, spindle pole), dendrite, dendritic spine, synapse (postsynaptic density).
Associates with perinuclear microtubule sheaths surrounding pronuclei, then localizes to the mitotic apparatus and cytoplasmic bridge during cell division.
Expressed in the nucleus during interphase and relocates to centrosomes and astral microtubules during mitosis.
배경 (Background)
This gene encodes a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) family.
RGS14 contains one RGS domain, two Raf-like Ras-binding domains (RBDs), and one GoLoco domain.
It attenuates G-protein signaling by binding to activated GTP-bound G alpha subunits via the GoLoco domain, acting as a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) to accelerate GTP hydrolysis.
This process allows reassociation of G alpha with G beta/gamma subunits, forming inactive heterotrimers and terminating the signal.
Alternative splice variants have been observed but not fully characterized. (RefSeq, Jul 2008)
