This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope at the C-terminus of the alpha-2 helix and a turn on one of the underlying beta strands within the human HLA-A2 histocompatibility antigen.
Target Information
HLA-A is part of the HLA class I heavy chain family. It forms a heterodimer with beta-2 microglobulin and is anchored in the membrane. Class I molecules present peptides from the endoplasmic reticulum lumen and are expressed in nearly all cells. The heavy chain (~45 kDa) gene contains 8 exons, encoding leader, alpha domains, transmembrane, and cytoplasmic regions. Polymorphisms in exons 2 and 3 determine peptide binding specificity, critical for transplantation typing.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential in Immunopeptidomics for identifying and characterizing neoantigens via LC-MS/MS.
