MAP2K를 활성화하는 MAPKKK 계열의 신호전달 분자이며, N-말단 kinase catalytic domain, leucine zipper motif, sterile-alpha motif를 포함합니다. 마그네슘 결합 단백질로 세포질에 존재하며, 감마 방사선 신호를 매개하여 세포주기 정지 및 세포사멸 조절에 관여합니다. 다양한 전사적 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
