Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Superior specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for Human TGF-beta1.
Target Information
TGF beta-1 (TGFB1, Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1) is a cytokine belonging to the TGF-beta superfamily, found in most tissues. It is stored in the extracellular matrix as a latent complex with its pro-domain and activated by binding of αV integrin to an RGD sequence in the prodomain.
Latent forms consist of TGF beta-1, the amino-terminal portion of TGF-beta precursor (TGF-LAP), and a specific binding protein (LTBP). TGF beta-1 regulates proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, and migration across various cell types. It interacts with TGF beta receptors and modulates other growth factors both positively and negatively.
The protein exists in latent and active forms, forming homodimers or heterodimers with other TGF beta family members. The TGFB1 gene is often upregulated in tumor cells, and mutations are linked to Camurati-Engelmann disease and cystic fibrosis.
