GPI 합성은 GPI-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase (GPI-GnT) 복합체에 의해 시작되며, 이 복합체는 PIG-A, PIG-H, PIG-C, GPI1, DPM2 등의 단백질을 포함합니다. PIG-Y는 효모 Eri1p의 포유류 상동체로, GPI 생합성에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. PIG-Y 유전자는 mRNA의 누출 스캐닝에 의해 두 가지 단백질을 암호화합니다.
